Offering a pair of circa-1950 butterfly chairs with slightly mismatched frames, but the same size canvas sling seats fashioned in a bright, cheerful yellow duck cloth. One chair is slightly larger and heavier than the other, neither chair is collapsible. The slightly smaller chair has hinged joints which, over time, have become fixed in position ... not a problem if kept open. Styled after Antonio Bonet, Juan Kurchan, and Jorge Ferrari-Hardoy's design for Knoll International. Original wrought iron frames are solid and sturdy, with some rust (see photos). The pair are a good example of the popular, informal midcentury lounge chair, showcasing its graceful lines.
I purchased them from the original owners (an artist couple) who had custom, heavy-duty slings made. The slings do show wear; if desired they can be used as sizing templates for creating new slings.
Both chairs are very comfortable and lend a relaxed, chic feeling to any space, and present as a matching pair. Great vintage condition. Any makers' marks are not apparent.
