Small aquatint on silk of a Bavarian village in the snow with mountains in the background. The blues and grays almost make you cold looking at it. According to handwritten note on back, this is “Onion Topped” typical Bavarian home. This is typical of Figura’s work from the 1920’s.
Frame is 6⅝” x 7⅜”, image is about 4½” square. Signed Hans Figura. Frame shows some wear.
Noted Austrian artist Hans Figura (1898-1978) is known for his aquatints on paper and silk featuring scenes of the Tyrolean Alps, Venice, other European locales, and even New York and elsewhere in the United States.
