First trained as a teacher in 1956, during the Hungarian uprising, fleeing to the West. From 1956 to 1963 she studied at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts and was a student of Charles Crodel. From 1959 to 1965 she was regularly involved in the annual "Great Art Exhibition" at the Haus der Kunst in Munich.The artist adopted the male name Dávid Mária Kiss in the early 1970s. The struggle for artistic recognition had prompted them to do so. Kiss changed her name so she might find more recognition as a male artist (hence the addition of Dávid). In 1973 the artist moved to Münster with her husband, where she worked until the end of her life. See less
