With its geometric pattern, warn colors and time-worn composition, this hand knotted wool distressed antique Persian Malayer gallery rug embodies a modern rustic style. An all-over Herati pattern is spread across the abrashed field. The Classic Herati pattern, also known as the Mahi or Fish pattern, is amongst the most widespread and well known of all Persian designs, consisting of a flower centered in a diamond accompanied by curving lanceolate leaves that resemble fish. Spandrels in each corner echo the central diamond medallion motifs. It is enclosed with a series of borders. Rendered in variegated shades of brown, blue, camel, cerulean, taupe, sand, verdigris, brick red, and sienna with other accent colors. See less
