Fine polished brass early 20th century fireplace fender, which reads "HOME SWEET HOME" across the top;
Polished, Nice weight, very sturdy and a pair of fireplace dogs. Fender measures 17.5"W x 10.75"D x 6H. Dogs measures 3"W x 9"D x 12"H.
Noteworthy, "Home Sweet Home," a now common phrase was first known as a song from the early 19th century who's melody was composed by Englishman Sir Henry Bishop with lyrics by American, John Howard Payne, and was adapted from Payne's opera, CLARI, MAID OF MILAN, which he composed in 1823.
