Built of richly inlaid rosewood, the piece exemplifies the transitional Louis XVI style with its clean lines, restrained neoclassical ornament, and refined proportions. The serpentine front features a single long drawer dressed with circular bronze pulls and a central wreath-shaped escutcheon, all set within intricate marquetry panels and parquetry banding. Each corner is accented with finely cast gilt bronze mounts, including neoclassical mascarons with cascading floral swags. The shaped apron is centered with a ribbon-tied bronze mount and supported on slender cabriole legs ending in bronze sabots. The console retains its original rouge marble top with ogee edge, showcasing dramatic white and gray veining that contrasts beautifully with the warm tones of the wood. The interior drawer is lined in red fabric and offers generous storage, making this a functional as well as decorative piece. The buffet is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with a patinated finish.
