This " Andy Warhol Prints " A Catalogue Raisonne 1962 - 1987 " rare revised and expanded fourth edition landmark volume large collector's hardcover Pop Art book is an incredibly special and unique book to add to your library collection.
The hardcover book with navy blue linen covered boards, monochrome embossed cover titles, gold tone foil embossed spine titles, magenta pink end papers, and dust jacket is published by D.A.P. / Distributed Art Publishers Inc. in association with Ronald Feldman Fine Arts Inc. / Edition Schellmann. Printed in Italy in 2003, all artworks copyright The Andy Warhol Foundation for Visual Arts, jacket design by Lisa Feldman Design, authored by Frayda Feldman and Jorg Schellmann, with essays by Donna De Salvo and Arthur C. Dano.
More than any other artist of his generation, Andy Warhol ( 1928 - 1987 ) understood how the reproduced image had come to reflect and shape Contemporary life.
This fourth edition revised and expanded by Frayda Feldman and Claudia Defendi of " Andy Warhol Prints : 1962 - 1987 ", with 1700 illustrations and full documentation, represents the artist's complete graphic production, from his first unique works on paper in 1962 through his final published portfolio in 1987, including trial proofs and unpublished prints.
The fourth edition contains a new portrait section, with 125 illustrations, 100 of which were not included in the earlier editions. Another highlight is a 33-page section covering the illustrated books and portfolios Warhol created in the 1950's. These innovative early works represent the first phase in the process of Warhol's conceptualization of printmaking. Insightful essays analyze and give perspectives to a truly original and influential art form.
Andy Warhol Prints, richly illustrated with over 1,500 color reproductions and descriptive technical data, is an authoritative reference source that establishes Warhol's prints as among the most distinctive graphic works of our time. By appropriating the silkscreen as a fine art medium, Andy Warhol discovered a way to be original and, in the process, forever altered printmaking in The Late Twentieth Century.
The rare landmark volume large format hardcover book measures 9 1/2" W X 11 3/4" H X 1 1/2" D, with 384 pages. It features 1700 illustrations, including 1500 in color, a chronology of printmaking activity and print exhibition history.
