Art pottery model of a sea shell - the Pacific Tun or Tonna Olearium. Life size - measures 8 1/2" long x 6 1/2" wide. Good condition - minor loss of glaze.
This specimen is one of the largest members of the Tonnidae family that includes all "Tun" shells. The Tun shells are so called because of their large rounded or ovate body whorls. They live in tropical seas in moderate to deep water. This handmade pottery sculpture captures the essence and detail of the sea shell. Unsigned.
