Stylish swivel vanity stool designed by Paul Frankl in the 1950s. This piece is attributed to Paul Frankl. Thus far no manufacturer's tag is evident. I have a photo of a staple at the base where tag was removed. I also have a closeup of interior showing one of 4 slot head screws holding the base intact. Slot heads where screw of choice prior to 1958. Produced by the Johnson Furniture Company. There is a painted production code on the base of the chair. This is how
they can differentiate different size models of the same design. The design is terrific. This is a rare item produced by one of America's leading companies by one of its leading designers. I replaced the fabric with mirror black and mirror gold vinyl. The white fabric is barkcloth.
More slot head screws to report and swivel mechanism
was made by the Seng company out of Chicago. Slot head screws are evidence of age of piece from mid fifties. So much for my rant. This is a very stylish vanity swivel bench.
