Holding one hand to the easel and a palette in the other, the painter appears focused entirely on his work. Pablo Picasso's rendering of the artist is reduced to the geometric shapes often found in his other Cubist work, in which figures are comprised of rigid forms and sharp angles that are layered over one another.
