Clutching a guitar and twisting his body, the aged guitarist appears emaciated and in general poor health. His clothes ripped at the edges, the man wears a black ensemble that contrasts with his light blue skin. Created during Pablo Picasso's Blue Period, this work exemplifies the sorrow and lack of hope felt by the artist during this time of his life.
