A stunning 18th century iron lectern from France. This would have been used on the altar to display a large bible during mass for the priest to read from. This is an instant conversation starter in any space because of its height at over seven feet tall and beautiful details. Topped with a pointed cross accented in gold and scrolling details, the display has the ability to turn 360 degrees. At each side is an adjustable candle holder still in working condition. Gilt details from centuries past cling to the worn iron, adding to the exceptional patina. The scrolling base is ornamented with hammered acanthus leaves rising from a sturdy wooden tripod with thumbnail carvings. Metal casters allow the piece to be repositioned as needed, perfect to be displayed in the center of a room to be enjoyed by all angles. Make sure to view the detailed images for a closer look at the antique details.
