The light blue scraped paint is authentic to the piece which gives it a wonderful patina, pleasantly smooth to the touch. A nicely carved cornice tops the whole with capital-like details and canted corners. Fluted carvings flank the sides and center of the cabinets on both the top and bottom sections which are enclosed by uniquely paneled doors. Inside the upper cabinet one finds an extension of the blue paint as the exterior to give tactile definition on the interior and shelves. The serpentine top shelf is notched on the front to display spoons. A rather theatrical opening to the back of the serving area (39" H) frames a low display in welcome contrast to the otherwise geometric lines of the design overall. Below, the the bottom cabinet houses a single shelf too offer a surprising amount of storage. The interior is similarly pigmented in blue and beige.
