Beautiful figural portrait of a beautiful Indigenous child by notable Texas artist Crystol Spillars (1932-2022).
Wonderful use of light and shadow make this well executed portrait a nice example of her expressionist technique.
Framed: 19” w x 22” h x 2” d
Unframed art: 11”w x 14”h x 1” d
Frame has a few nicks and frame insert mat has yellowed over time. Painting is in excellent condition!
Trained at the Glassell School of Art in Houston, TX. She was a well respected member of the art community in and around Houston Texas. She was also a member of several art associations and served as judge for multiple visual art shows. She had numerous solo shows and exhibitions in Dallas, Galveston and Houston.
Spillars travelled extensively, was a versatile painter and her subject matter included pure abstraction, multicultural figures, landscapes and waterscapes.
