Jones, circa 1930-1940, done in an abstracted loose brush stroke manner consistent with his style seen in other works from that time. The park like scene is dominated by an arched concrete or stone bridge with trees including a tall fir tree and a palm tree at the far right along with a small building with a red terra cotta roof-- possibly a setting in Southern California or Florida judging from the composition. Main colors are rich blue in the sky, shades of green for the trees and vegetation, sand or tan for the structures, and touches of purple for shadow.

This piece is one of several we obtained from a portfolio of works by Prescott M. M. Jones (1904-1981). It is unsigned. Jones' works are in the collections of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and the Smithsonian, among other art institutions. He studied art under noted Rockport, Massachusetts artist William Hazelton at Tufts. He was employed by the WPA art program during the Depression, and this piece may date to that period of the 1930s. Unsigned.

Unframed, excellent condition without issues. Executed on heavy art paper stock.
