Japanese ceramic vessel from Shiga, Japan. This piece gains its unique glaze and irregularities from the firing process in which wood is added to the kiln. The ash that is produced then falls on the vessel offering shades of yellow and brown while flashing inside the kiln offers a non uniform unintentional look to the piece. The thick lip around the opening is hand cut. A truly one of a kind piece.
Made in Japan marked on the underside.
