A large vintage mid-century modern oll painting by Van Hoople. Impasto is a technique used in painting, where paint is laid on an area of the surface thickly, usually thick enough that the brush or painting-knife strokes are visible. Paint can also be mixed right on the canvas. When dry, impasto provides texture; the paint appears to be coming out of the canvas. Painting is on panel with original frame. Great condition, no damage; see photos.

Van Hoople was born in Chicago, IL but was referred to as a California artist. He attended the University of Texas and worked for Paramount Studios in Hollywood and apprenticed for Cecil B Demilles and scene director P.T. Blackburn. He was under exclusive contract to Hillside Galleries starting in 1957. His works have received notable recognition throughout the U.S., and he is becoming more recognizable throughout the world. His paintings are characterized by a deep, almost high relief, impasto, as if the paint were cut with a gouge. They are classic Mid Century, blending well with interiors decorated with furnishings and fixtures of the time.

- Upon inspection, If you decide not to move forward with the purchase, you or your agent must refuse the item at the time of pickup/delivery from the seller

Cancellations

- Chairish Express In-Home deliveries are currently only offered for international cross-border shipments.

- Deliveries can take anywhere from 6 to 9 weeks to be delivered.
- Chairish Freight Delivery
- Delivered in a crate, to your front door.

- Chairish Freight deliveries can take anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks.
