moreTitled 'Velvet Evolution', this photorealist drawing draws on a long tradition of botanical drawing. The detail drawn with color pencil is breathtaking. Early Salix discolor (pussy willow) catkins fill the branch, the bark and the texture of the protective cover over the buds is superb. Drawn over a period of several weeks a few hours at a time, it is one of two offered by the artist. Less than two dozen botanicals were produced by the artist. We are proud to be offering two of them, both from our own collection. It is signed on the front lower right and carries both the Copley Society (America's oldest non-profit art association) label and the artist card.
The artist, Megan Brook, (1952-Living) is an American artist. She comes from an artist family including her mother, grandparents and great grandparents. Brook has an Associate's Degree in Graphic Arts Technology from Springfield Technical Community College. The artist has worked in a variety of mediums and as well as having been a book designer. She gave up drawing in 2002 due to arthritis less
