Patinated bronze sculpture by well known Italian artist Constantino Barnella (1852-1925) entitled "Boy with a wine jug". The sculpture depicts a lively young boy holding a large wine jug or bottle to his mouth, seemingly taking a drink or a "big swig". His pose and expression convey a sense of genuine joy and vitality, characteristic of the sentimental and charming themes Barbella often chose.
Costantino Barbella, nicknamed "the Michetti of sculpture", was a highly celebrated Italian sculptor known for his small, detailed terracotta and bronze figurines. His work primarily centered on the simple, everyday life and folklore of the Abruzzo region of Italy, a theme that appealed to a wide international audience. He exhibited his work across Europe, winning numerous awards.
