This vintage mid 20th century modern abstract expressionist lithograph (not offset)by the well listed artist Karel Appel (Netherlands/Switzerland 1925-2006) is an original design for the 1961 issue of the art journal XX Siecle. The edition was limited to the circulation of the art journal. Dimensions: 9.5" x 12.5". Only the lithograph is for sale.
Christiaan Karel Appel was a Dutch painter, sculptor, and poet. He started painting at the age of fourteen and studied at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam in the 1940s. He was one of the founders of the avant-garde movement CoBrA in 1948.
