J. Von Tury. Considered one of the twentieth century's master potters he created a body of work that is truly unique. This studio made porcelain oval vase is hand-decorated with blue and brown foliage on a deep ivory ground. Inscribed with the artist's signature on the bottom.

Measures 6.75" wide x 4" deep x 8.25" high.

In EXCELLENT - MINT condition with no cracks, chips, crazing, or issues of note.

Francis Joseph von Tury (1901 - 1992) was a fourth generation Hungarian potter. After emigrating to the US in 1929 he invented a unique "single firing" process for porcelain which is now the standard. Equally renowned for his talent as an artisan - his work initially gained fame at the 1935 and 1939 World Fairs. Throughout the balance of his lengthy career "Joe" maintained an atelier studio while consulting with porcelain manufacturers worldwide. Along with creating bodies of work for partners such as Georg Jensen. His work is included in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Smithsonian Institute.
