Up for sale is an unusual Chinese famille noire porcelain Yenyen vase mounted as a table lamp. The vase is finely decorated with peony, rockwork and phoenix motifs; the peony is the king of flowers while the phoenix the king of birds, both representing elegance, wealth, and prosperity.
The upper part of the vase was heavily wrapped or mounted with copper. There is a six-character Kangxi mark in Kaishu script on the base of the vase - we took the photos when the vase was unscrewed from its wooden stand. The vase was made in the 18th or 19th century, Qing Dynasty.
The lamp is in working condition, all fixtures are included, the shade is not available; the brass finial shows a stylized Shou (longevity) character. This lamp was originally acquired in early 70s.
