Peter Brandes is a largely self-taught artist whose, frequently abstract, work incorporates themes from Ancient Greek mythology and Early Christianity. Brandes has also illustrated a number of thematically related books including Homer’s Iliad. In addition to his career as a fine artist, he is a celebrated ceramicist and has created a number of publicly-commissioned installations including the monumental 'Roskilde Jars' installation which now stands outside the main Roskilde Railway Station. His ceramic works, in particular, are inspired by the myths of ancient Greece. The artist has also created large-scale works in stained glass including for the Church at Nordkap and, in 1998, the Village of Hope Church in Los Angeles. See less
