About:
Robert Roujas was born on January 6, 1908. Entering the French Administration in 1927, this civil servant graduated from the Ecole du Louvre, which speaks volumes about the background of general and human culture that he had already accumulated. He was an informed music lover, and of course, a talented painter who had the privilege of working with Yves Brayer.
Having made a career in the services of the French Post, Robert Roujas, in addition to his professional and cultural activities, also demonstrates undeniable sporting qualities. Passionate about rugby, certainly thanks to his Ariège origins, he practiced this sport at a high level until later becoming an international referee.
His courage and civility were not the least of his qualities. During World War II, demobilized after the Battle of Dunkirk, he was arrested and imprisoned by the Militia. Succeeding in escaping, he manages to reach Algeria and participates in the Italian campaign, where he was injured. He ended the war as a commander.
After a particularly rich life, Robert Roujas will live in the city of Nimes, where he passed away on January 11, 2000. See less
