About:
Blagny is a commune in the Department of the Ardennes (northeast of France), approximately 30 miles east-southeast of Sedan. The monument lists the names of 31 soldiers and civilians from the Blagny area who fell in World War I. It shows a "poilu"* (WWI French soldier nickname) engraving an inscription: "N'oubliez jamais" (Never forget).
*"Poilu" is an informal term for a late 18th Century, early 20th Century French infantryman, meaning, literally, hairy one. It is still widely used as a term of endearment for the French infantry of World War I. The word carries the sense of the infantryman's typically rustic, agricultural background. Bushy mustaches were often worn. The poilu was particularly known for his love of his ration of cheap wine. The image of the dogged, bearded French soldier was widely used in propaganda and war memorials. The stereotype of the Poilu was of bravery and endurance.
The Renault KZ is an automobile of the Renault Make. It was produced from 1923 to 1932 under the trade name Renault 10CV, from 1931 to 1935 under the trade name Renault Primaquatre, and from 1932 to 1935 under the trade name Renault Vivaquatre.
The Renault 10CV is the trade name of an automobile of the Renault Make produced from 1903 to 1912 and then from 1919 to 1933.
