Shirvan rugs are tribal rugs that were made by the indigenous peoples that resided in the Southern Caucasus in an area that is now the eastern and northeastern area of Azerbaijan including the city of Shirvan. Caucasian rugs of this caliber ceased to be produced around the turn of the 20th century with increasingly fine weaves and knots and variety of designs and patterns that include floral and geometric. The predominant colors used in these rugs are blues, reds and browns in the field with accents of golden yellow and ivory.
This particular Rug was made of wool on wool in 1900. This rug with its stunning traditional design will look phenomenal in any room, whether it’s fitted with other antiques or more modern pieces.
