Chinese landscape scroll, freely drawn colored inks on heavy paper, mounted on a gold and copper silk brocade in a … Read more Chinese landscape scroll, freely drawn colored inks on heavy paper, mounted on a gold and copper silk brocade in a a dragon medallions pattern, signed, with a short poem and numerous red seal marks in various sizes and shapes. The image size is 24 7/8" wide x 50 1/2" high. With a dark purple silk makio and kakio at the top and black jikusaki at the bottom. The outer scroll covering is of a light gold raw silk. Circa early 20th century, no later than mid century.

In the foreground, lakeshore pile dwellings are surrounded by rocky bouldered shores covered with groves of leafy trees, pines, shrubs and grasses. At the right mid ground a forested river descends to a horsetail waterfall. Beyond, forested peaks soar into the heavens and recede into the distance in traditional Chinese aerial perspective.
