With a dark purple silk makio and kakio and black jikusaki at the bottom. The outer scroll covering is raw silk in a light gold color. The image size is 25" wide x 50 1/4" high. Circa early 20th century, no later than mid century.

In the foreground are massive boulders and hills with sparse winter trees, dotted with bushes and grasses that open to a riverine habitat with two figures and a small footbridge amid gentle shoreline hills covered with thin groves of winter trees, shrubs and grasses. Rising from the clouds at mid ground are massive peaks dotted with sparse vegetation that fade to distance in traditional Chinese aerial perspective. See less
