This " Masterworks of The Jewish Museum " first edition large hardcover cultural arts book is a very special and unique book to add to your library collection.
The hardcover book with red linen covered boards, embossed cover and spine titles, and a dust jacket front cover featuring Andy Warhol's " sarah Bernhardt, from The Ten Portraits of Jews of The Twentieth Century " 1980.
It is published by Yale University Press in association with The Jewish Museum, New York, printed in Italy in 2004 by Conti Tipo Color, Florence. Authored by Maurice Berger, senior fellow at The Vera List Center for Art and Politics at The New School University, and Joan Rosenbaum the Helen Goldsmith Menschel director at The Jewish Museum.
This special edition book has been published in celebration of the centennial of The Jewish Museum, which was founded in 1904.

Ranging from antiquity to the present day, these artworks and ritual objects include a fourth-century glass vessel, ancient burial plaques, exquisite torah decorations and marriage contracts, stunning ornate menorahs and spice containers, beautiful paintings, prints, and sculptures by such artists as Moritz Danial Oppenheim, Marc Chagall and Ben Shahn, striking Contemporary works by Leonard Baskin, Sol LeWitt, George Segal, Richard Avedon, Alice Neel, Nan Goldin and many others. There are also selections of video and still images from television and film, ranging from documentaries and dramas to situation comedies.
