This Max Bill rare vintage 1974 limited first edition iconic landmark museum exhibition catalogue Mid Century Modernist collector's lithograph print book is an incredibly special and unique book to add to your library collection.
The softcover exhibition art book is published by The buffalo Fine Arts Academy & The Albright-Knox Art Gallery Museum, printed in Switzerland in 1974 in an unnumbered limited edition of 5000 copies by Genossenchaftsruckerei Zurich, photolithograph printing by Cliche & Litho AG Zurich, binding by HCH. Weber AG Winterthur. The book is compiled and edited by Max Bill and James N. Woods, with an introduction by James Woods, text by Max Bill, and an essay by Lawrence Alloway.
This is a rare opportunity for true Max Bill and Mid Century Modernism fans and collectors both as this coveted limited first edition exhibition art book is long out of print and very scarce to find.
Max Bill ( 1908 - 1994 ) was a Swiss architect, painter, sculptor, typeface, graphic, and industrial designer. Bill is considered the single most decisive influence on Swiss graphic design beginning in the 1950's. His work is characterized by a clarity and precise proportions. As a designer and artist he sought to create forms which usually represent the new physics of The Early Twentieth Century.
The iconic landmark retrospective exhibition was held in 1974 - 1975 at The Albright-Knox Art Gallery Museum Buffalo New York, The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and The Corcoran Gallery of Art Washington D.C..
The rare out of print 1st edition collector's Modernist art exhibition book measures 8 1/4" W X 11" H X 3/4" D, with 198 pages. It features 186 illustrations including 63 full color lithograph print plates, and a special binding that is " split attached " intentionally designed to prevent unnecessary wear to the covers.
It is in excellent " like new " very clean vintage condition consistent with age and light signs of handling. Please see photos for condition reference. It is now being offered here for an excellent price.
