Silvano Tagliapietra, historian and writer, tells of an Ongaro who in 1400 came to Murano from Buda, the ancient capital of the Kingdom of Hungary. Both the Ongaro and the Fugos were included in the Book of Murano in 1600 as glass masters, the official list of the nobles of the Republic of Venice, and were coined the famous Oselle, celebratory coins that the Doge donated every year to the personalities of the Serenissima. Respecting the ancient techniques and the same materials used for centuries, Ongaro e Fuga lends itself, in addition to the manual execution of Venetian-style mirrors and site specific interior projects (dining rooms, living rooms, bedrooms, \.), to the development of projects by artists, designers and architects. The company also boasts extensive knowledge in the art of restoring and reproducing ancient mirrors, of which the remaking of the mirrors of the La Fenice theater in the 1960s is a famous example. Ongaro e Fuga is one of the few artisan realities left in Murano, experts in the field of the artistic mirror, and undoubtedly stands out for the versatility of its offer. Ongaro e Fuga also boasts collaborations with international Artists and Dedigners for various editions of the Venice Biennale. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker.
