The composition is delightfully pleasing to the eye and signed by the artist, Balitrand.
Can be used as a candy/nut dish or placed in a bedroom or bath.
The rim is accented in a band of gleaming gold.. This is a dainty piece measuring 6 inches in diameter
There are no chips, cracks, crazing or damages of any kind. Appears to have just been displayed in a china cabinet.
The blank is double marked on the reverse with the Bawo & Dotter (Elite Works) Mark 5, underglaze white ware mark in green used after 1900 and Mark 9a, overglaze decorating mark in red that was used in the time period from 1900-1914. Bawo & Dotter was established in the 1860s in New York City for the purpose of importing china, notably Limoges porcelain, for the American consumer.
The firm set up its own decorating studio in Limoges during the early 1870s which was named "The Elite Works". From the 1870s through the 1890s, the company decorated the white ware made by other Limoges factories.
