North-Italian school of the eighteenth-xviii century. In a large rather barren hilly landscape, which widens fading on the right, a high rock is inserted, conformed in arc, under which there is a penitent San Gerolamo, depicted in the act of prayer e of adoration of the cross. Conversionly to the canons of the painting of the eighteenth-XVIII century, the figure of the saint, adequate for iconography in the guise and in the attitude, is however inserted in a landscape that is not very appropriate, close to that of the painter who referred to the Landscape reality known to him. The painting, restored and restored, is presented in style frame. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
