The horse is saddled with wrapped celadon green fabric in traditional Japanese fashion. The artist brilliantly captures and conveys the action of this struggling horse. The red bridle and sky blue posts give nice accent color to the piece. The weathered piece of antique board appears to be quite old judging by the weathering on the ends near the nail holes. Probably early 20th century, but perhaps older. Exact provenance is unknown, as this piece came from a private estate in Houston.
