Two abstracted figures, … Read more A striking large-scale abstract expressionist figurative acrylic on canvas by Bay Area artist Julius Wasserstein (American, 1924-1985). Two abstracted figures, a man in a suit and a woman in a blue wedding dress and vail, stand side by side against a black background. This painting was completed in 1984, just one year before the artist died. Acquired from the original purchaser who purchased it at the Paule Anglem Gallery in San Francisco.

Signed "Julius Wasserstein" and dated 84 on verso.

Displayed in a simple wood slat frame.
Canvas size: 68.5"H x 51.5"W.

Post War California artist Julius Wasserstein (American, 1924-1985) studied at the California School of Fine Art (now San Francisco Art Institute) 1950-53 and the San Francisco State College, 1955-58. Wasserstein taught at the San Francisco Art Institute 1960-63 and was the recipient of San Francisco Art Association Nellie Sullivan Award in 1961.
