Vintage mid century modern oil painting abstract cubist cityscape of a beach town by Robert Kaupelis Oil on masonite panel signed lower right dated 1955 presented framed in a quality contemporary gallery frame. Painting measures 24" x 30 overall framed size 30 x 36".
Robert Kaupelis, painter, teacher, and author of painting books, was born in 1928 in Amsterdam, New York, and was a Professor of Art at New York University from 1956 to 1985.
He studied at the State University College in Buffalo where he received a Bachelor of Science. He also studied at Albright Art School and Teachers College at Columbia University, earning MA and Ed D degrees.
His work is in several museums, and he has exhibited at numerous galleries, especially in the South. Kaupelis is a board member of Silvermine Guild
Arts Center and a member of the Studio Arts Committee of Advance Placement.
He has been awarded many prizes including "Sculpture New England Annual" 1969 and "Painting 1973" at Silvermine. He is referenced in the August, 1981 issue of "American Artist."
