The first child is astride the animal, while the second is sitting on a sheaf of wheat. The two toddlers with laughing faces and chubby bodies are depicted naked, with grapevines in their hair and bunches of grapes in their hands.
The long-coated goat is lying on the ground. Surprisingly docile, it seems to be content to be the momentary attraction of this pair of jokers.
This country scene rests on an oblong molded base.
The work bears the inscription "after Boucher", Alfred, French sculptor (1850 - 1934), first master of Camille Claudel and founder in Paris of "La Ruche", a pavilion for young artists.
One will appreciate the realism of this sculpture, as well as the mixture of innocence and mischievousness which emerges from its two protagonists.
