It rests on four brass feet with skids, has a mahogany plinth designed to let nothing pass under the furniture. This piece of furniture has a complete frame in polished brass that frames the whole. The fronts and shelves are made entirely of custom-cut glass and include 2 Pollards Pat sliding doors and 2 glass shelves. A mirror lines the bottom of the cabinet to give it a nice depth effect. The quality of its materials evokes a world where the accessory was treated with luxury and intended to demonstrate the durability of things. If the furniture is English, one will find there a universe - certainly fantasized - where evolve Jeeves and Hercule Poirot or other Mrs. Dalloway\. One will also think of the "Poor blouse" of V. Larbaud. The fashion for department stores developed in Europe from the middle of the 19th century along two lines, one oriented towards consumption that was certainly not mass, the other more elitist. Where before the merchant had to go to his customer's home and offer him a range of products, like the craftsman - bootmaker, tailor, etc. - the customer comes to the merchant who does everything possible to attract him. These relationships, reversed, oblige the latter to adapt his "store", we no longer speak of a store\. (the term store itself, of Arabic origin, designated a place of storage, a warehouse.) which must seduce by presenting all the possible choices between price and quality, in a flattering presentation for the product but also for the customer. The effect of "buying pleasure" works in full. We offer you here what to put away and display your things or goods, when you had the time to choose, not on a shelf, but by feeling, smelling, looking at the materials, when all the senses participated in an "investment". This piece is designed in the style of the selected designer and/or manufacturer See less
