A set of five ceramic handpainted Japanese sake cups. Each cup is round and sits upon a delicate footed base. Each has been hand-painted on the inside with blue, white, and deep red chrysanthemums, and is accented in gold. The center of one of the cups features a phoenix outlined in black. The body of each cup is decorated in a blue and white scenic glaze. The bottoms are marked "Japan" in black. This set would be wonderful for use as barware for sake. Alternatively, they could be used as salt dishes in a formal place setting.
