The carving depicts the ibex standing atop a rocky outcropping. Made of linden wood and stained to a light chestnut, this hand carved piece features naturalistic details.

The Iberian ibex (Capra pyrenaica), also known as the Spanish ibex, Spanish wild goat, or Iberian wild goat, is a species of ibex endemic to the Iberian Peninsula. Four subspecies have been described; two are now extinct. The Portuguese subspecies became extinct in 1892, and the Pyrenean subspecies became extinct in 2000

Black Forest sculptures are often made of strips of linden wood glued together to create large glue blocks sized to accommodate the vision of the sculpture. A glue seam is visible on the forward section of the right side of the base of this sculpture. It in no way detracts from the sculpture.
