Four tall palm trees tower over the sandy beach, where figures stroll among small fishing boats and a small thatched structure. The blue water stretches along the horizon with mountains in the distance.

Signed "A. J. Rahman" lower left.
Malaysian framing tag on verso with a variant of the artist's name, Abdul Rahman.

Amang Rahman Jubair was born in Surabaya, E. Java in 1931. Amang Rahman was active as an artist in Indonesia and India. He was a Sufi and often used mystic Sufi symbolism in his later works. He died in 2001.

The artist is known as several variants of his name which including; Amang Rahman, Amang Rachman Jubair, Abdul Rahman Jubair, Abdul Rahman, Haji Amang Rahman. See less
