A remarkable and unusually large pair of original 19th-century Renaissance Revival sconces with dramatic Baroque detailing. Richly sculptural and commanding in scale, the pair makes an impressive architectural statement.
The sconces were acquired from Doyle Auction House in 2007 and have since been carefully preserved in temperature-controlled storage. They remain in good antique condition, consistent with their age.
Originally designed for candlelight, the sconces are suitable for electrification. Existing openings along the backs provide a pathway for electrical wiring; however, the sconces are currently **not electrified and would require professional wiring prior to installation**.
An exceptional pair of 19th-century decorative objects, particularly striking for their substantial scale, elaborate Renaissance-inspired ornamentation, and well-preserved condition.
