The Pop Art print is published by Te Neues Publishing Company, printed in Germany in 1991 with the authorized licensed rights of The Estate & The Andy Warhol Foundation for Visual Arts. It features an artwork image originally created by Warhol in 1986 titled " Butterflies : vanishing Animals ".

The unusual and striking color palette of the " Butterflies : Vanishing Animals " artwork was originally published in the 1986 book titled " Vanishing Animals " authored by Dr. Kurt Benirschke.

When the state of our planet and the fate of its inhabitants became a cause for alarm, Warhol created art works that reflect that concern. His Vanishing Animals portfolio represented a new subject matter for him. The complex and dazzling color combinations make the animal images so irresistibly beautiful that one cannot help becoming involved in the environmentalist message conveyed.

In 1986 Warhol agreed to illustrate a book by Dr. Kurt Benirschke that outlined the history. habits and plight of some of the most endangered animals on earth. The resultant book " Vanishing Animals, was published in 1986. It is an unusual collaboration between artist and scientist that both informs us and inspires us to take action. The image in this print was originally first published in that book.

The rare out of print offset lithograph Pop Art print measures 12" W X 16" H. It is printed on high quality smooth finish paper stock with vibrant ink colors in a satin finish.
