This hand knotted wool vintage Persian Ahar Heriz rug features a cusped octagonal central medallion anchored with trefoil palmette pendants. The field is covered in a densely patterned field composed of serrated leaves, wispy feathers, angular blooming palmettes, leafy tendrils, Rhodian lily flowers, and rosettes. A large-scale palmette trefoil and serrated leaves grace each corner spandrel. Warm earth-tone colored florals, stylized vine scrolls and serrated leaves highlight the composition, creating an intimate patina. It is enclosed with a Herati border flanked with a series of inner and outer floral meander guard bands.
