It is composed of two curtained doors, sliding on the sides, with bronze knobs. Greek corner fillets frame a succession of herringbone marquetry, allowing the mobility of these doors. The uprights are adorned at the top with bronze falls decorated with instruments and foliage.
The mahogany interior features two drawers of identical dimensions overhanging a niche.
The cabinet has a retractable shelf in the belt, lined with brown leather, and opens with a third drawer. The latter is equipped with an ornate entrance and a working lock and key, all original.
The unit stands on four sheathed legs with square brass sabots.
This piece of furniture is embellished on the top, sides and front of the drawer with veneer marquetry, sometimes in friezes and sometimes in butterfly wings. They are underlined by fillets of lemon tree and green stained wood, which are also found on the shelf and on all the visible sides of the legs.
We will appreciate the fine lines and inlays of this 1900 cabinet, as well as its functionality. Indeed, it skilfully combines work space and storage furniture, while being decorative.
