Hand-painted, they have a white coat … Read more This pair of vintage King Charles Cavalier Spaniel Staffordshire dogs was manufactured between 1960-69. Hand-painted, they have a white coat and gold tags and chains. This pair have slightly different heads giving each a slightly unique look; there are other variations in shape and in the painted brush strokes. In perfect vintage condition, they measure 5.75"w x 3.75"d x 9.25"h.

Mantle aka hearth dogs are fine examples of British craftsmanship and cultural history. Queen Victoria's own King Charles Cavalier spaniel may explain the breed choice since royals have always been style icons. They are beautiful on any kind of mantle or shelf, or in a vignette.

Beswick Pottery was founded by John Beswick in 1894. It is known for producing charming animal pieces. In 1969, Beswick was sold to Doulton & Co. and although animal figurines were still produced until 1989, the Beswick stamp was removed in favor of Royal Doulton Royal Albert DA. This pair bear the impressed mark: Beswick, England 1378-4 along with the artist's painted initials. See less
