American Classical Carved Mahogany Sunderland drop-leaf Tea Table. A fine American version of a popular English tea table form named for the Duke of Sunderland who first ordered a pair for his English estate. This American-made table was most likely made by a skilled master cabinet maker using an English pattern book. It is a fine example of the type. Drop leaves flank a cylinder with boss terminals, foliate and rosette-carved supports, raised on scrolled legs connected by a shaped stretcher.
Beautifully executed carving details. No repairs or replacement parts. Finish is in excellent condition. Rolling casters in working order. Perfect for use as a tea table or extra serving surface in a dining room.
