Chinese porcelain Da Ya Zhai Qilin urn, with an imperial yellow glazed exterior and a turquoise glazed lip, interior and circular inset within the partially unglazed base, all covered with fine, small pattern, iron wire craquelure. A red, Da Ya Zhai mark and a red and white, Tian Di Yi Jia Chun cartouche are glazed on opposite sides, just below the rim. The stepped neck and body of the urn are decorated with nine, finely drawn, polychrome qilins amid finely painted, white and sepia, leafy, herbal flowers, detailed in gold highlights, all in low relief. A red and white, Yong Qing Chan Chun, Guangxu mark is glazed to the circular inset within the base. The finely carved traditional Chinese hongmu circular stand is included. Circa Republic of China era, no later than mid century.

stand: 2" high x 8 7/8" diameter
5 Chinese herbals: chrysanthemum flower (ju hua), campus flower (ling Xiao hua), celosia flower (ji guan hua), safflower (hong hua), and, the much beloved, rose bud (mei gui hua).
Dayazhai: (Studio of the Greater Odes) found on imperial porcelain commissioned by the Qing Empress Dowager Cixi.
