An excellent First Edition French Impressionist Style, vintage full color print after oil painting "Dancers" by Edgar Degas. Comes from a rare First Edition folio of the artist published by Albert Skira in Geneva, Switzerland in the 1940-1950s. Printed on one side. Numbered at the lower right corner: 6. Excellent condition - never framed.

In the last phase of his career, when, to his consternation, his sight was failing more and more, Degas made many pastels, which he sought to exalt to the level of oil-painting by mixing oil-paint into the pastel. He got from pastel effects that it had never yielded hitherto–dazzling coruscations, surfaces shimmering with broken gleams. The subject in these compositions was a mere pretext. Yet, even so, he never failed to impart to his models that gracefulness of attitude which, when he painted dancers, was his constant concern.
