An excellent First Edition French Impressionist vintage full color print after oil painting "At the Cafe" by Edgar Degas. Comes from a rare First Edition folio of the artist published by Albert Skira in Geneva, Switzerland in the 1940-1950s. Printed on one side. Numbered at the lower right corner: 3. Excellent condition - never framed.

Here the backs of chairs in the foreground and the pillars intersecting the composition have that almost photographic precision dear to Degas. Here, too, he shows no gentleness in his handling of the young women of easy virtue. We are reminded of Renoir’s remark: “There’s no one like Degas for giving a subject an air of jollity and at the same time the look of an Egyptian bas-relief.”
